Project 60
Ideas we put on the Project 60 website on November 23, 2009.
Project 60 says:
Systemic Growth from inside Idaho
Current Businesses in Idaho
Skilled Workforce in Idaho—the people
What we put as
comments on November 23, 2009
What is missing at
the moment is the understanding by state and federal government that
the power of this country is the people.
The businesses, which Governor Otter showed in his video,
create jobs that are a part of the disparity between income and
productivity that has been a part of the current downturn of the
economy and has been happening since 1970.

What is missing at
the moment is the understanding by businesses that the power of
Idaho is the people.
Renova Energy is the current holder of an ethanol plant because
Pacific Ethanol left.
That plant is right in the middle of a feedstock that could make
this plant thrive.
Idaho people can run the plant and Idaho people can produce the
feed-stock. We don’t
need corn from outside the state.

What is missing at
the moment is the understanding of Idaho government that the
impediments to setting up an ethanol blender pump are substantial,
partly because of EPA and partly because the Idaho Department of
Energy is not helping the people to set up these pumps.
John Hoven is helping blender pumps in North Dakota.
No help is in Idaho.

What is missing at
the moment with state and federal agencies is the understanding that
they should be putting E85 into their flex-fuel vehicles.
Even though the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the October 5,
2009 presidential directive say that they should, these agencies are
still putting gasoline into their tanks.
We want to put a blender pump in Salmon, as a model, because
we have so many government vehicles here.

What does Project 60 mean?
How Salmon Idaho Fits the Meaning.
Ideas from Calvin Leman and Willie Mundy

Business and Innovation Center

Salmon, Idaho
§
Creating a climate in which our companies-large and small-can grow
and contribute to sustainable communities
-
Companies that make fuel from a feed-stock that farmers in
their town produce can make a fuel that is sustainable and
solves the energy, environment, and worker-productivity
problems of the state and of the nation.
§
Encouraging local self-determination and enabling Idahoans to become
the architects of their own destiny
-
Self-determination for these communities follows from people
having a job where they have control.
Producing local fuel to burn in local cars creates
self-determination.
§
Empowering Idahoans to compete in the global marketplace
-
Idahoans in Salmon and in other communities will be able to
sell this idea and this equipment nationally and world-wide.
§
Exporting our goods, not our people
-
People will stay where they have good jobs.
The trickle-down effect of the replacement of the
$10.5 million each year for gasoline will create 182 jobs.
A community of 8000, who makes their own fuel, will
add $28,955,050 to the local economy, $5,149,500 to
household income, and 182 jobs in the town.
§
Providing a solid foundation for Idaho's families through education,
connected communities, and career opportunities
-
The trickle-down and the profit from locally produced fuel
will help pay for schools and community projects.
It will help make loans to local businesses.
§
Providing
the access and resources our young people need to realize their
potential
-
Young people will be attracted to these state-of-the-art
fuel production facilities. Young people will gain skills in
science, engineering, and business.
This will enable them to improve the facility and the
process.
