Salmon is a close knit community that welcomes new residents and supports young people who want to make their home here. Even those who leave come back to contribute to making Salmon a better place. Community leaders are forward-looking and open to new ideas about the future. Residents are engaged and committed to a positive future. Our community is a “place of hope” where people work hard to find a common purpose. Our small town values mean we care deeply about each other and our community.
We have a sustainable economy that builds from and diversifies our traditional natural resource and agricultural industries. Our region is a national epicenter for renewable, green energy developed from our plentiful forest resources. Local markets generate income without shipping products long distances. Our recreation sector provides services to visitors as well as manufactured products that visitors buy from local companies. We have expanded our tourism sector into a vital part of the economy, renowned as a destination for rich outdoor and educational experiences that take advantage of our cultural heritage. New residents help generate revenue to support our future economy.
This community vision was created by 325 local residents on April 28, 2009.
