Censorship By Any Other Name Is Still Censorship
By Robert Butche
What’s presented to the electorate as political news is little more than
a horse-race view of political issues. Coverage of issues pales in comparison to
political intrigue, the poll du jour, and inside politic analysis. ...

Murdock and Fox News Opinion
-
None more ruthlessly than Murdoch and
the infoentertainment empire he controls. Its flagship US operation is Fox
News that Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) calls “the most biased
name in news….with its extraordinary right-wing tilt.” In response, Murdock
defiantly “challenge(s) anybody to show me an example of bias in Fox News
Channel” because in his world the entire political spectrum begins and ends
with his views. For him and his staff, “fair and balanced,” we report, you
decide” means supporting the boss. Alternative views are biased, verboten
and rarely aired. But they’re hammered when they are as the “liberal”
mainstream that’s code language for CNN and other rivals at a time all media
giants match the worst of Fox and are often as crude, confrontational and
unprofessional.
Media
Matters
- Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit,
501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to
comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative
misinformation in the U.S. media.
FactCheck.org
- We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit,
"consumer advocate" for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception
and confusion in
U.S. politics. We monitor the
factual accuracy of what is said by major
U.S. political players in the
form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases. Our goal
is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to
increase public knowledge and understanding
Media Research Center
- The mission
of the Media Research Center is to bring balance to the news media.
Leaders of America's conservative
movement have long believed that within the national news media a strident
liberal bias existed that influenced the public's understanding of critical
issues. On October 1, 1987, a group of young determined conservatives set
out to not only prove — through sound scientific research — that liberal
bias in the media does exist and undermines traditional American values, but
also to neutralize its impact on the American political scene. What they
launched that fall is the now acclaimed —
Media Research Center
(MRC).
News Busters
- Welcome to NewsBusters, a project of the
Media Research Center
(MRC), the leader in documenting, exposing and neutralizing
liberal media bias.
- In August of 2005, with the guidance of
Matthew Sheffield and Greg Sheffield, the creators of
RatherBiased.com, the
MRC launched the NewsBusters blog to provide immediate exposure
of liberal media bias, insightful analysis, constructive
criticism and timely corrections to news media reporting.
- Taking advantage of the MRC's thorough and ongoing tracking
of liberal media bias, including a wealth of documentation and
an archive of newscast video dating back 18 years, we aim to
have NewsBusters play a leading role in blog media criticism by
becoming the clearinghouse for all evidence of liberal media
bias by joining to this formidable information store the
contributions of already-established netizens as well as those
who want to join in the web revolution.
Pundit Police Watch News Talkers 24/7
- Fewer than a half-million people were
watching MSNBC when David Shuster made his
comment that Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign
had "pimped out" daughter Chelsea by having her
make political phone calls.
- Among them were monitors at Newsbusters. The
Web site posted video of Shuster 10 minutes
after the show was over, beginning a reaction
that led to his two-week suspension.
- The pundit police never go off duty.
