Here is a presentation about alternative energy, from an expert who is trying to understand the energy we need for the world. Chris Somerville shows what we know about this right now.  For nuclear power, he calculates that we need to build one nuclear plant every two days for the next 50 years, to supply the energy we need.  Biodiesel is a useful niche, but can supply only a little energy.  Ethanol from corn can be sustained by agriculture temporarily only, because of the water, nutrient, and field soil degrading.  The presentation is about an hour.

How to Kick Our Oil Addiction Despite Plunging Oil Prices

Old habits die hard. So we asked six experts for their ideas on reducing energy demand.

T. Boone Pickens says wind power is part of the solution. I sent Governor Otter a message from usa.gov about wind energy.  If we all communicate with our legislators, we may get the federal and the state government to do their part to solve the energy problem, while we do our part.

His name is not Boone Pickens.  He generates electricity from the wind, makes biodiesel, and will soon be making ethanol.  Here is how he does it, Part 1 of 3.
