Cal also found that the people on Melanie Drive just up from 9th
street have an electric fence which works, but one night they forgot
to turn it on and the deer came in the yard and ate things. Fred and
Sue Waidley on Lombard did not tell me they had deer problems, but
their daughter said they "can't grow anything". Gary and Linda
Leuzinger put in an 8-foot fence because other methods were not
keeping the deer from eating their garden. Linda Johnson told
me she witnessed an impatient driver trying to get deer out of the
road by honking his horn, then bumping the nearest ones with his
SUV. Linda also said she once went around the block because
there were 13 deer in the street, which wouldn't move. Further
up the street, the Armstrong's asked me what should they do about
the 20 deer that appeared at their house
