What does Project 60 mean?
How Salmon Idaho Fits the Meaning.
Ideas from Calvin Leman and Willie Mundy
Salmon Business and Innovation Center
October 7, 2009
Salmon, Idaho
§
Creating a climate in which our companies-large and small-can grow and
contribute to sustainable communities
-
Companies that make fuel from a feed-stock that farmers in their town
produce can make a fuel that is sustainable and solves the energy,
environment, and worker-productivity problems of the state and of the
nation.
§
Encouraging local self-determination and enabling Idahoans to become the
architects of their own destiny
-
Self-determination for these communities follows from people having a
job where they have control.
Producing local fuel to burn in local cars creates self-determination.
§
Empowering Idahoans to compete in the global marketplace
-
Idahoans in Salmon and in other communities will be able to sell this
idea and this equipment nationally and world-wide.
§
Exporting our goods, not our people
-
People will stay where they have good jobs.
The trickle-down effect of the
replacement of the $10.5 million each year for gasoline will create 182
jobs. A community of 8000, who
makes their own fuel, will add $28,955,050 to the local economy,
$5,149,500 to household income, and 182 jobs in the town.
§
Providing a solid foundation for Idaho's families through education, connected
communities, and career opportunities
-
The trickle-down and the profit from locally produced fuel will help pay
for schools and community projects.
It will help make loans to local businesses.
§
Providing the access and resources our young people need to realize their
potential
-
Young people will be attracted to these state-of-the-art fuel production
facilities. Young people will gain skills in science, engineering, and
business. This will enable them
to improve the facility and the process.
